Special Events

These galleries include special events and tours for scientists, contractors and others.

Science

More than 20 different experiments already are underway at Sanford Underground Laboratory. Many of these projects are researching how best to install larger experiments later on.

Historic

In 1965, Dr. Ray Davis installed a solar-neutrino detector 4,850 feet underground in the Homestake gold mine. In 2002 he won the Nobel Prize for Physics for his work here.
