The water level at the Sanford Underground Laboratory at Homestake was
5,084 feet underground Monday -- 16 feet lower than last week, which is the largest
weekly drop since November.

Lead, S.D. -- The water level at the Sanford Underground Laboratory at Homestake was
5,068 feet underground Monday -- 6 feet lower than last week. The water level had risen
during the previous week while a pump was being replaced. A rebuilt pump was installed
last week, and dewatering continued throughout the long Christmas weekend, despite
snowfall of nearly 40 inches and snowdrifts 8 to 10 feet high.

5,062 feet underground Monday morning -- 3 feet higher than last week. The water level
rose several feet in the past week while a submersible pump was replaced, but by
Monday the water level was dropping again.
